What Is the Difference Between A4 and A3 Paper?

No doubt you’re perfectly familiar with the A4 paper - it’s the standard size for most everyday printing, including for office documents and letters. Almost any standard printer you purchase is capable of printing A4 documents without issue.

While A4 paper measures 210mm x 297mm, A3 paper measures 297mm x 420mm, effectively doubling the surface area that can be used. A3 paper is often better suited for the creation of posters, illustrations, larger print works, and brochures.

Unlike A4 paper, which is the go-to sizing for most printing, being able to print A3 documents will require you to ensure you purchase a printer that has this specific function included. 

What GSM Paper Types Are Available at Global Office Choice?

GSM, which stands for Grams per Square Metre, is a measurement of both paper weight and thickness. The higher the GSM, the heavier and thicker the paper is. 

A GSM of 35 to 55 denotes very thin paper, such as what you’d get with a newspaper or tracing paper. On the other end of the scale, a GSM that measures between 350 and 450 is often noted as heavy cardstock - it may be used for premium business cards, book covers, birthday and greeting cards, and high-quality flyers.
